What is a Concrete Pier
A concrete pier is typically used in construction for sheds, small construction, or homes and buildings built on shifting soils. In Texas, there are many areas where clay soils can affect the foundation. Clay soils retain water and in the summer seasons can become dry and crack. Changing soil conditions or moving soil can cause cracks and damage to traditional slab foundations. When this happens the structure’s foundation can become unstable or unlevel. Pier and beam foundations offer a way to mitigate the expenses and ease of fixing structural damages over time.
